AWARDS 2011

The annual awards event was held once again at the dojo. The number attending (112) clearly showed the popularity of the venue. As well as the usual preamble from Sensei Reece, the guests were treated to demonstrations in Karate, Kobudo, Kickboxing and Jiu Jitsu.

The Kaizen Kids started the event with demonstrations of kata with individual performances from Ethan O’Connell and Megan Flint. This was followed by a demonstration of a ‘street scene’ with Sensei Iain Carter, Clare Adams and Hanya Kowalczuk. The demonstration proved so popular that an encore was demanded and delivered, the encore being in slow motion! Junior Sensei Sean England demonstrated the katas Kankusho and Unsu which was followed by a flashing nunchaku demonstration in the dark by Adam Falshaw and Hanya Kowalczuk. Sensei Carter, still recovering from his exertions was joined by Aiden Richmond and Andrew Kirk to demonstrate a range of Jiu Jitsu techniques. These were quickly followed by an Aikido demonstration from Sensei Tomasz Krolak assisted by Eric Darley and Piotr Kaczynski. The demonstrations ended with a wonderful demonstration of kata by two sumo wrestlers Mark Stirling and Yvette Reece.
