A BLACK BELT INTERNATIONAL CENTRE OF EXCELLENCE

OKINAWAN KOBUDO GRADINGS

Saturday 23 January 2010 witnessed Kobudo Kyu Grades and Dan Grades attempting grade progression under the watchful eye of Sensei Albie O’Connor.  Those taking their Shodan were required to demonstrate skills in the use of the bo, nunchaku, sai, kama, tonfa and iyeku.  For the grade of Nidan the additional weapon was the kuwa and for Sandan the additional weapon was the Nunti Bo.

We are very proud to report that all candidates were successful and the following grades achieved:

Vicki Sumner:  Shodan
Jeff Watkins:  Shodan
Jodie Ritchie:  Shodan
Nick Beech:    Nidan
Jim Reece:     Sandan

In the evening many of our dojo students and families joined Sensei O’Connor and his wife Jill (herself an experienced karateka) for a meal at the DeFresh Chinese restaurant.
