TERRY WINGROVE 2008
On Sunday 9 March 2008,
Kaizen MAA once again hosted a seminar with Sensei Terry Wingrove, 9th Dan.
The event was organised by our good friend Sensei Mike Flanagan of
Headingley Karate. The event, proved that once again, many martial artists
are seeking to expand their knowledge of a range of martial arts techniques and
happily endured 4 or 5 hours of, at times, intense discomfort when techniques
were applied. For those of us watching the techniques being applied they
weren't painful at all!!! Fortunately (or unfortunately) Sensei didn't
miss too many people out when demonstrating his techniques.
We are fortunate in
having 2 rooms at the dojo. Initially that offered Peter Clarke's students
the opportunity to receive additional Jiu Jitsu instruction from one of Sensei
Wingrove's Instructors while in the afternoon the session was split into two
groups - Juniors (those who had never attended one of Sensei Wingrove's
sessions) and Seniors (those who had).
The event was superb.
The participants worked very closely with that level of support ad
professionalism that ensured no-one was deliberately intent of proving
themselves better than anyone else. Sensei Wingrove took time to explain
the techniques and his team ensured that we understood and applied the
techniques as effectively as we could.
Regrettably the end of the
event came too soon.
